USA: $ 50 million for information for Maduros arrest

The United States has long exposed a million -dollar reward with the aim that Venezuela’s President is arrested. The Trump government is now increasing the amount.

The Trump government doubles the reward to up to $ 50 million (around 43 million euros) for information that leads to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The United States accused him of violating the US drug laws, as can be seen from the press release of the US State Department. Justice Minister Pam Bondi also said in a message shared on the platform X that Maduro brings deadly drugs – cocaine – and violence to the USA.

About a year ago, the authoritarian Maduro had been sworn in despite a choice overshadowed by allegations of fraud, nationwide protests and international criticism for a third term until 2031. At that time, the opposition claimed the victory for itself. The United States, the EU and many Latin American states doubt the official election result and instead consider the opposition candidate Edmundo González, who has now lived in exile Spanish.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil clearly rejected the US reward and spoke of a “ridiculous” and “miserable” staging.

Venezuela suffers from mismanagement, corruption and sanctions. A good seven million people-around a quarter of the population-have left the once wealthy oil country in recent years.
