Federal government as unpopular than ever – AfD again at the highest value

The German population is dissatisfied with the federal government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In a survey, only 29 percent of the black and red surveyed expressed their trust.

Almost 100 days after taking office, the federal government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) receives as bad grades than ever. According to the new ARD “Germany trend”, the consent of the citizens to the black and red coalition dropped to a low point.

Accordingly, only 29 percent of those surveyed are currently satisfied with the work of the government (minus 10 percentage points compared to the previous month). This is the worst value since the Federal Government took office in early May. More than two thirds (69 percent) are less satisfied with the work of the Union and the SPD.

At the same time, Chancellor Merz also has a strong loss of trust: According to the Infratest Dimap survey, only 32 percent agree to his work (-10). This is not two thirds (65 percent). The opinion research institute Infratest Dimap asked 1,321 eligible for the “Germany trend” from Monday to Wednesday this week.

The dissatisfaction is also reflected in the Sunday question: If the Bundestag election were the next Sunday, CDU/CSU would come to 27 percent (-3 compared to July). With 24 percent (+1), the AfD would again reach its previous maximum value in ARD Germany trend from April 2025.

The SPD remained unchanged at 13 percent, the Greens would unchanged 12 and the left to 10 percent. The other parties, including the BSW with 3 percent (-1) and the FDP with 4 percent (+1), would be without a chance of being in parliament.

Personally, competent and entertaining: Editor -in -chief Gregor Peter Schmitz sends you the most important content from the star-Credaction and arranges what Germany talks about.

Election surveys are generally affected with uncertainties. Among other things, waning party bindings and more and more short -term election decisions make it more difficult for opinion research institutes the weighting of the data collected. Basically, surveys only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey.
