A clinic chief doctor mobilizes against his Catholic employer. Shortly before the labor court deals with its lawsuit against a ban on abortion, a demo runs through Lippstadt.
In the dispute between a chief physician and the Lippstadt Clinic, more than 1,000 people protested against a ban on abortion from the Catholic clinic carrier. Chief Physician Joachim Volz and Sarah Gonschorek called for the demonstration “Stop the Catholic abortion ban” in the Westphalian city from the local Greens. The demonstration train still received further influx in the morning, said a police spokesman.
Gynecologist Volz told the German Press Agency on the sidelines of the demo that he does not see this argument as an individual case. Wherever Catholic carriers were coming to the end of politically wanted clinic fusions, it is to be feared that these aids would no longer be offered structurally. He was worried that the handling would also change, that women would be pushed to the edge, stigmatized and in the end would have to go abroad for break -offs.
Lawsuit against the instructions
The doctor had sued a new instruction of his employer. The Hamm Labor Court wanted to deal with it from the morning and are expected to announce a decision. In his 13-year work as chief physician at the Evangelical Hospital in Lippstadt, the gynecologist had medically indicated abortions in individual cases.
Don’t you want to miss anything from the star?
Personally, competent and entertaining: Editor -in -chief Gregor Peter Schmitz sends you the most important content from the star-Credaction and arranges what Germany talks about.
However, after a clinic merger, this was prohibited from the new Catholic carrier after a clinic fusion – also for serious malformations of the fetus. The ban has applied since February and also includes its Bielefeld private practice. Volz defends himself in court. Shortly before the demo train headed up towards the clinic, the gynecologist emphasized: “Yes, I think I have a good chance.” With his legal representatives he “delivered many very good arguments”.
Demo organizer Gonschorek said that she found the ban to be great injustice towards the women concerned. The participants also expressed this on signs they had brought with them: “Heaven Hell hypocrisy! Church, leave the women free” was to read and “help and self -determination instead of punishment”.
The instructions of the merged clinic only allow a termination as an exception if “body and life of the pregnant women are in danger”.
