Zakharova announced Russia’s readiness for dialogue with the West

Russia continues to be open to dialogue with Western countries, but the Western states themselves for many years did not want to contribute to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. This was announced on Tuesday, February 22, on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda” by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“I can say that even in the most difficult moments for us of outright lies, lies and slander, we have always stood for dialogue, for negotiations,” Zakharova said.

The politician added that the Western media and politicians have been discussing Russia’s preparations for an “attack” on Ukraine for the past two months.

“We are always for the negotiation process. But forgive me, you can ask a question – all these years, and these are the second Minsk agreements, and the first ones were generally initiated by Moscow, so how many can be called. Okay, a few months, well, a year, but not eight years, to call everyone to the same thing, to fulfill what the Western partners have signed and vouched for and the parties to the Ukrainian conflict have signed. Moscow was engaged in this in all forms. Where was Berlin and Paris, where were they? I’m not talking about the United States at all, their unsightly role in this is obvious, ”summed up Zakharova.

The politician added that the cynicism of Western partners who declare “from the stands about human rights, about the pricelessness of life” and do not believe in the desperate situation of the inhabitants of Donbass, on the territory of which the recorded “outrages” took place, is still amazing.

Zakharova admitted how incredible it was for her to see in international negotiations the readiness of the United States and Europe to understand all the intricacies of Sudan’s problems, and at the same time remain “absolutely insensitive to the situation that is under your nose, on the European continent.” According to her, it was clear that the Western partners “didn’t give a damn about children, women, girls, old people.”

Earlier, on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. In addition, the Russian leader, the heads of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin signed an agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance.

The signing of the documents was the result of an extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council, during which its members unanimously supported the recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

The situation on the line of contact in Donbass escalated on February 17. The DPR and LPR reported heavy shelling by Ukrainian security forces, including with heavy weapons. At the same time, Kiev announced the shelling of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
