Many journalists have already died during the devastating Gaza War. An Arab broadcaster is now mourning his correspondent. Israel’s military says he belonged to Hamas.
According to the Arab TV station Al-Jasira, the sender and four other colleagues were killed in an Israeli air raid in the Gaza Strip. Anas Al-Scharif and his colleagues were killed in a targeted attack on a tent for journalists in the city of Gaza in the north of the Gaza Strip. Israel’s military confirmed the death of Anas al-Sharif. He had pretended to be an al-Jasira journalist, but led a terrorist cell of the Islamist Hamas, it said.
The Arab broadcaster said that the Israeli military had not submitted any documents verified by independent international bodies that would prove this claim. Israel’s army, on the other hand, referred to information and documents found in the Gaza Strip, which showed the military belonging from Anas al-Sharif to Hamas. The Israeli army said that he was responsible for the implementation of rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Foreign journalists have largely banned access to the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war. Local reporters report on site. There are always reports on journalists who were killed in Israeli attacks.
