The decoration in the White House is a top priority for Donald Trump. Especially when it comes to unpopular predecessors – Barack Obama’s portrait has lost its exposed place.

The White House is not only the official seat of the President of the United States, but also a small history museum. Among other things, the official portraits of former US presidents can be admired on the walls.

However, Barack Obama will see significantly fewer visitors to the White House in the future than before. His portrait hung in a long Grand Foyer, the large entrance hall, which is often used for representative purposes. However, it was recently transferred – to a staircase that connects directly to the magnificent entrance area, but is frequented more less frequently. First, the US broadcaster CNN reported that the white house has now confirmed the change.

Obama portrait is now hanging in the stairwell

The current President Donald Trump should have played an important role in this. As a source from the White House CNN said, he is personally involved in almost all aesthetic decisions that affect his official. With the relocation of the Obama portrait, Trump also breaks with a long tradition. Accordingly, the pictures of the last two predecessors of the incumbent president in the reception hall always hang, clearly visible to state guests and tourists. Since Joe Biden’s official portrait has not yet been completed, this should actually be Obama and George W. Bush.

But the Obama picture, painted by the artist Robert McCurdy, is now “out of sight” for visitors, reports CNN. It now hangs at the entrance to Trump’s private area. Only the family of the President, agents of the Secret Service and selected employees have access there.

Donald Trump attacks Barack Obama sharply

A few months ago, Obama’s portrait had changed the place. It was hung to another place within the entrance area and had to make room for the famous photo that Donald Trump shows after the attack on him with a raised fist. In turn, the picture of George W. Bush, the predecessor of Obama, had to give way from the foyer. According to CNN, it now hangs in the same stairwell as Obama.

Trump’s aversion to Obama, whom he replaced in his first term as President, and the Bush family is known. Among other things, Trump accuses Obama of having operated a “coup” to secure Hillary Clinton 2016’s election victory and subordinate him “treason”. The US President has also critically commented on the policies of his republican party colleague George W. Bush.
