Spahn: We have to grow closer together as a coalition

The first 100 days of black and red were turbulent. The SPD, especially on the Union faction leader Spahn, has not been good to speak since the broken judge election. He now wants more cohesion.

Union faction leader Jens Spahn called up the coalitioners for more cohesion 100 days after the start of the black and red federal government. “As a coalition, we obviously have to grow together even more closely,” the CDU politician told the editorial network Germany. “We have to develop a meaning for what can go together and have to go together. And for what we can expect to each other – and what not.”

The Union Group Chairman recently had the criticism of the SPD in connection with the failed election of new constitutional judges in the Bundestag. Spahn was no longer able to guarantee the Union’s approval previously agreed to the SPD judge candidate. SPD boss Bärbel BAS therefore described the trust of Spahn as “struck” in the ARD and still sees a need for discussion with the Union.

The Union faction leader now emphasized the responsibility of black and red-also in delimitation to the AfD. “This coalition is neither a love marriage nor a great social project. It is less and at the same time much more: it is simply committed to success – for the benefit of our country.” Black-red sets “political moderation against the radical destructive strategy of the AfD,” emphasized Spahn.
