The cost of the prestige project promoted by President Donald Trump is estimated at $ 175 billion. It should be ready for use by 2028. The Pentagon announced that the plans were in an “early stage”.

The system is based on the Israeli “Iron Dome”, but much more complex due to the geographical conditions of the United States. As can be seen from a memo by US defense minister Pete Hegseth, Space Force General Michael Guetlein, who was confirmed on July 17 as head of the Golden Dome project, has 30 days to put together a team, and another 60 days to provide a first system design. This confirmed several people familiar with the memo to the Reuters news agency. According to the insiders, a first complete implementation plan should be available in 120 days.

Trump started the “Golden Dome” initiative just a week after the beginning of his second term and pushed for quick commissioning. In May he said the protective sign should be ready for use until the end of his presidency in January 2029. However, industry experts have explained that this time frame and the expected costs of around $ 175 billion could be too optimistic.
