Protests In the idyllic Charlbury: US Vice President JD Vance wants to go on vacation in England, but is welcomed by outraged villagers with a “not welcome” party.
Dozens of people protested in the Charlbury village of Charlbury in the Cotswold region against the holiday stay of US Vice President JD Vance and his family.
“The people of Cotswolds are here today, to say JD Vance that he is not welcome here,” said the representative of the Stop Trump Coalition, Jake Atkinson, on Tuesday at the demonstration of the AFP news agency.
Demo against JD vance: “Fuck yourself”
Around 100 people, mostly women, came to the “Not Welcome” party, which was also called “Dance Against Vance”, as the British newspaper reported. On signs of the demonstrators, sayings such as “go home” and “piss off yourself” were read. There were also numerous versions of the memes that Vance showed as a bloated baby, according to the sheet. The British police and US security forces were represented in large numbers in the small village.
Residents of the otherwise quiet community criticized the turmoil in her home village and the US vice. “It is annoying and quite a surprise,” said 53-year-old Phil Ball from the AFP. “We wanted to give him the same reception as he (Ukrainian President Wolodymyr) Selenskyj in the White House,” said 75-year-old resident Lou Johnson with reference to the scandal in Washington in February when Vance and US President Donald Trump exposed the Ukrainian head of the state in front of ongoing cameras.
Vance had started his vacation in Great Britain last week with a meeting with British Foreign Minister David Lammy. According to reports, he later wants to visit Scotland later.
