Bundeswehr has dropped 192 tons of relief goods via Gaza

Intermediate balance sheet of emergency aid from the air: German transport aircraft have sold relief supplies over the Gaza Strip with 18 flights.

The Bundeswehr has so far discontinued 192 tons of relief supplies on parachutes. There were 18 flights, said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defense in Berlin. Two more flights are planned for Wednesday.

The relief supplies were thrown off on 386 pallets from type A400M and are to end up in assigned discharge zones (“drop zones”). The spokeswoman said that comprehensive risk management should prevent people from being hit on the ground.

“In particular, satellite images are used, which, for example, can also cause drop zones to be rejected,” said the spokeswoman. In one case, the parachute of a palette was not open. There were no personal injury on the ground.

Help should be continued

The Bundeswehr wants to continue their help organized with other countries for at least a week. Then the situation should be re -evaluated. Aid organizations see the whole thing skeptical, albeit better than nothing – and refer to high costs and small quantities.

In March, Israel imposed an almost complete blockage of aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip, where it wages war against Islamist Hamas. This blockade was relaxed after increasing international criticism.

Representatives of 26 western states and the EU Commission put pressure on Israel again on Tuesday to allow aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip. “A famine spreads before our eyes,” says the explanation.
