Since Trump’s took office, there has always been protest against his politics. The planned meeting with Putin in Alaska also ensures explosive. Opponents express their anger on site.
In the largest city of the US state of Alaska, residents protested against President Donald Trump’s planned meeting there with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin. On the day before the summit in Anchorage, around 140 demonstrators gathered at a crossroads to clear their displeasure with signs and Ukrainian and American flags. Many drivers spent support when driving past, a truck driver had his horn sounded particularly loudly and for a long time.
German Petra, who came from the Stuttgart area, was one of the protesters, and has been living in Alaska for decades. She pointed out that the US military regularly holds defense exercises that also include scenarios from possible attacks from Russia – and criticized that a red carpet would be rolled out to the Russian president during his visit.
Cristy Willer commented similarly. “It is very important to make it clear to the world that Alaska (…) this meeting and the people who participate does not really be good,” she said. It makes no sense that the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj was not invited. Her friend Susan Soule added: “People are really concerned. They suffer from Ukraine. They are angry that Trump is our president.”
Among the participants were also two women who work in refugee aid. According to their own statements, they demonstrated on behalf of Alaska living in Alaska, who, despite a residence permit, did not want to take part in the protests out of concern despite concern about the consequences of Trump’s migration policy. The background is raids from the ICE immigration authority, which is currently available throughout America.
