Donald Trump meets Wladimir Putin, process for Christina Block continues, teenagers save a restaurant – and finally a farewell. That is important today.
Good morning, dear readers!
Today the time has come: the eagerly awaited meeting of US President Donald Trump and his counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Russian ruler, in the Alaskan anchorage. According to Moscow, the summit is scheduled to begin at 11.30 a.m. local time (9.30 p.m. CEST). Then both heads of state want to step together in front of the press.
The first Russian delegation members have apparently already landed in the United States, as the aircraft tracker Flightradar24 shows. It remains unclear whether Putin is underneath.

The expectations of the first meeting of the two in around six years have been high. It is about no less than a possible end of the Russian attack war against Ukraine – a war that brought death and destruction and shaken the world order.
Will the meeting between Putin and Trump bring something?
Today’s conversation could be the start for further summit meetings, which ideally result in a peace conclusion sooner or later. Trump himself had a second encounter for a second encounter, in which Ukraine is also said to be involved.
However, even the otherwise large-gauge US president keeps the ball flat. On Thursday, he said on Fox News Radio on Thursday, the meeting was primarily prepared for the preparation of a future three -piece box with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj. “This meeting prepares a second meeting, but there is a risk of 25 percent that this meeting will not be a successful meeting,” said Trump.
He was skeptical whether the conversations with Putin have a ceasefire. In addition, he made it clear that a second summit would only be a successful course of the first course – and did not fail. Should Putin refuse to end the fights, Trump threatened consequences.
There is great tension in Kyiv and Europe. Both are excluded from this meeting and fear that Putin Trump could wrap around his finger. They are particularly concerned that the two could reconcile an assignment of Ukrainian areas to Russia – a scenario that strictly rejects the Ukrainian government.
Moscow demands the handover of the four partially occupied regions of Saporischschja, Donetsk, Luhansk and Cherson as well as the annexed Crimea. In return, Russia could be ready to withdraw from other occupied areas.
Trump also seems to bring his proposal of an “area exchange” into play again. “I don’t want to use the term ‘divide something’,” he said. “But you know that this is not a bad concept for a certain extent. There will be a giving and taking at boundaries and territories.”
Nevertheless, Putin should also be a hard -to -crack nut. Although he praised the US government for its “quite energetic and sincere efforts”, he continued to provide strict conditions for a ceasefire. This includes a stop of western arms deliveries to Ukraine and Kiev’s waiver of NATO accession.
How things will go after the Anchorage summit is uncertain. In any case, Trump brought up the participation of European heads of state and government. “Maybe we will also get some European leaders. Maybe not,” he said in his vague way. It remains to be seen whether Putin gets involved.
So there is no choice but to wait today and the meeting of the two mighty men. In the night of Saturday, Trump and Putin should take the press. Then hopefully we are all smarter. We keep you up to date.

Survey in the block process
The most spectacular process of the year in Germany continues today: This Friday, the questioning of the accused will continue in the block process.
According to the public prosecutor, Hamburg entrepreneur Christina Block, daughter of the founder of the steak house Eugen Block, is said to have commissioned the kidnapping of her two youngest children from Denmark. The children lived there with the father, who was also careful. During New Year’s Eve 2023/24, several men are said to have violently kidnapped and brought to Germany who at that time 10 and 13 year old children. Christina Block had rejected the allegations on July 25, the third day of the trial.
The trial in which seven defendants are on trial started on July 11th. All deny the allegations. Block’s partner, the former sports moderator Gerhard Delling, is charged with help.
Block will no longer be represented by her previous lawyer Otmar Kury for the first time. At the beginning of August, she separated from the renowned Hamburg criminal defense lawyer. The court confirmed Ingo Bott as a new defense lawyer. Block had consulted the Düsseldorf lawyer as a second defense lawyer shortly before the start of the trial.

Something positive
One more thing should say that “these young people” of today are lazy and self -related! A heart -warming story from Wisconsin proves the opposite: there teenagers saved an entire restaurant. In the “Urban Olive & Vine”, 30 young people between the ages of 14 and 18 are currently working, as the local station reports. The owners Chad and Carol had hired them – on a sad occasion. Carol, Chads Great Love, collapsed in the restaurant in September with a seizure. She was in the hospital for eight months afterwards, most of the time in a coma. As he took care of Carol, Chad thought of closing the restaurant.
But then the teenagers came to rescue. “I didn’t ask a single teenager to do something additional,” says Chad. You would have offered your help by yourself. They led the restaurant for eight months: they cooked, served, cleaned and took on new tasks. They trained each other, planned the daily courts and gossiped Carol’s plants, as Kare11 reported.
It was also a way for the young people to return something. “Carol has always offered help with homework and in general in life,” said one of them. She and Chad had sponsored beauty competitions, attended school sports events and supported performances.
Unfortunately, Carol died in the hospital on May 5 at the age of 58. But even after Carol’s funeral, the young people continued to work in the “Urban Olive & Vine”. “She was just an incredible person,” said the employee Lilly. “Without them, the restaurant would not exist,” said Chad. “I love her like my own children.”
