How many public service employees need civil service status? The taxpayers’ association wants to press the number of re -orders and refers to the high costs.
The taxpayers’ federal government penetrates fewer people to civil servants. “The public budgets are extremely burdened by the XXL civil servant relationships,” said the President of the lobbying organization, Reiner Holznagel, the “Rheinische Post”. “Therefore, the civil servant status should be put to the test and critically questioned with its privileges.
Holznagel demanded that the number of new verb wiring to a minimum and exclusively to the sovereign core areas – in the police, in the financial administration and in the judiciary.
Linnemann also demands fewer verbales
Most recently, CDU general secretary Carsten Linnemann had also called for a reduction in the number of ceremonials due to the high financial burdens. “I only want one thing: that we only have to civil servants where there are really sovereign tasks, with police officers, with judges, with public prosecutors, at finance officials, at customs officials – but then it is good at some point,” he said at the day of the Paderborn craft. The “picture” had reported about this. In ministries, “not everyone has to be civil served, not in the administrations,” said Linnemann.
Dobrindt: are very well positioned

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), on the other hand, sees no need for a change. He told the broadcaster World TV that civil servants were an important part of the country and its stability. “With what we have in the administration of civil servants, in the federal administration, with what we have in civil servants, for example with the federal police, we are very well positioned. There is no need for any change.” It is the countries that could think about how they deal with their staff.
Civil servant association warns of strike risk
The German Official Association (DBB) sees the debate critically. “Designation does not solve a single problem of pension insurance or public budgets, on the contrary. It would create many new ones,” said DBB federal chairwoman Volker Geyer to the newspapers of the Funke media group. The civil servant status of the teachers, for example, secure the strike -free space school. “Do Linnemann, Holznagel and Co. want to put strikes at the German schools if necessary?” He asked.
According to Geyer’s view, the state cannot save any money through the dismissal of certain professional groups: “On the contrary, the gross salary would have to be increased at short notice, employer shares for pension insurance are applied and funds for the supplementary care of the then employed teachers are provided.”
Around 5.3 million people work in the public service. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, around a third of the public service employees are civil servants. Like other employees, these do not pay the statutory pension insurance, but receive a pension that is fully financed by the state after leaving the service.
