Kremlin chief Putin wants to be in anchorage on time for the summit with US President Trump. His spokesman explains what at least the Russian side is.
The summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US colleague Donald Trump in Alaska is scheduled for six to seven hours. “We assume that there will initially be a personal conversation. This will take place with the participation of the consultants. Then there will be discussions within the delegations, possibly in the form of a working lunch,” said Kreml spokesman Dmitri Peskow to the state TV channel Perwy.
“After that, the heads of state will withdraw for some time and then come together for a joint press conference,” he said. Peskow had previously said that Putin would arrive on time at 11:00 a.m. local time (9:00 p.m. CEST). Trump picks him up personally on the plane. Putin started with the Magadan plane in the Far East, where he had several appointments. The flight time for the route to Anchorage was calculated with four hours.
At the summit at a military base in Alaska, the main thing is to end the Russian attack war against Ukraine. Peskow said that the Russian side calculates with real results at this first meeting of the Kremlin chief with a US president since the beginning of the war 2022. In the event of corresponding results, there could also be a triple meeting with the participation of Ukraine, which is outside in Anchorage, said Peskow.
