Peace negotiations: Merz and from Leyen Reisen with Selenskyj to Trump

Selenskyj expected in Brussels – planned video count

Selenskyj receives from Leyen in Brussels on Sunday. A video count is planned by the so -called “coalition of the willing”, which includes Germany, especially France and Great Britain. The allies of Ukraine want to deny their tactics before meeting with Trump. Europeans want to prevent decisions from being disadvantageed by Ukraine.

After meeting Putin in Alaska, Trump wants to talk personally with Selenskyj on Friday about ways to end the war. After the summit in Anchorage, Trump had moved away from his ultimate demand for an armistice. Instead, in the sense of Putin, a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia should be discussed. Among other things, Russia demands that Ukraine do without areas, which Selenskyj categorically rejects.

Selenskyj’s last meeting with Trump in the White House in February was escalating in front of running cameras – Trump reproached the Ukrainian president in front of ongoing cameras. As a result, the United States temporarily exposed its military aids that are extremely important for Ukraine.

Kyiv calls for more pressure on Russia

Before the video count of Europeans, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha called for more pressure on Moscow to terminate the Russian war of aggression. In addition, Ukraine primarily needs guarantees for its own security, strengthening its defense and a package of deterrent measures that forces Russia to end the war, said the minister at X.

Sybiha therefore conducted talks with his European counterparts to coordinate steps with a view to the video count. Sanction pressure on Russia also has to be increased, the minister said. The EU Commission is currently preparing a 19th package with punitive measures.

Ukraine has been fighting against the Russian attack war for around three and a half years.
