The Federal Statistical Office has an increase of around 15 percent in the social welfare benefits. A total of 20.2 billion euros flowed, the largest share of it in basic security in old age.
The expenses for social assistance rose significantly last year. The state spent 20.2 billion euros net – and thus 14.8 percent more than 2023, as the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced. The increase concerned all social welfare benefits according to the twelfth book of the Social Code (SGB XII).
The largest proportion decreased with 56.5 percent to the basic security benefits in old age and in the event of a reduction in earning capacity. According to the Federal Social Ministry, 11.4 billion euros – an increase of 13.3 percent. According to the information, 17.7 percent more was spent on the information for care at 5.3 billion euros. Expenditures for help to livelihood increased by 11.1 percent to 1.6 billion euros.
Aid for health, to overcome special social difficulties and other situations, 1.9 billion euros flowed together. That was 19.4 percent more than in the previous year, as the Federal Office calculated.
