Russia has been a bloody war in Ukraine for three and a half years. But the Russian military also has to put up with sensitive losses again and again – even at the general level.
In Russia’s war of attack against Ukraine, the Vice Ecise Mandeur of the Leningrad Wehr District, Lieutenant General Esedulla Abatschew, was seriously wounded. Abatschew has been on the front since the first days of the war, wrote the head of the Russian sub -Republic of Dagestan, Sergei Melikow, on Telegram. “He held several important commander posts, but was always at the forefront, the most responsible and therefore the most dangerous front sections.” Abatschew is born in Dagestan.
Melikow announced no details of the injury and only announced that the 57-year-old was treated in “one of the best military hospitals in the country”. According to the Ukrainian military secret service, several limbs had to be amputated to the general. The Hur claimed wounding as a success by a blow against a military column in the West Russian region of Kursk.
Abatschew is not the first senior Russian officer who was harmed in the war against Ukraine. So far, the death of twelve officers in general rank has been confirmed.
The Leningrad military district was created in 2024 on the command of Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin and comprises all regions of northwestern Russia to the Ural Mountains. Russia’s northern metropolis of St. Petersburg was called Leningrad at Soviet times, and this name lives on in some official names.
