German environmental aid lists the company cars of top politicians every year and criticizes that the vehicles would emit too much CO2. But the evaluation has weaknesses.
According to the German Environmental Aid (DUH), Germany’s top politicians continue to rely on too many climate -damaging company cars. After evaluating environmental aid, many of their company cars emit significantly more CO2 than an average of currently approved car in Germany.
According to the environmental aid, 87 out of 238 top politicians drive through the country with pure electric cars.
“Despite the progressive climate crisis in the federal cabinet, this is not a consistent switch to economical company cars even after the change of government,” said environmental aid. At the federal level, including the Secretary of State Secretary, the proportion of purely battery -electric company cars has increased slightly from 50 to 57 percent compared to the previous year.
Four Federal Minister on the road with pure electric cars
The numbers of environmental aid are only partially comparable to other statistics. For its ranking, for example, the DUH assumes that plug-in hybrids are only used in combustion mode. According to studies, this often applies – whether the top politicians and their fleet management actually proceed is actually open. In addition, only one vehicle is listed for every top politician, but many cars are available to many.

Personally, competent and entertaining: Editor -in -chief Gregor Peter Schmitz sends you the most important content from the star-Credaction and arranges what Germany talks about.
Of the eleven federal ministers in the evaluation, according to Duh, four pure electric cars (Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan, Minister of Education Karin Prien, Environment Minister Carsten Schneider and digital minister Karsten Wildberger use). Seven rely on plug-in hybrids (Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche, Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer, Minister of Construction Verena Hubertz, Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder, Minister of Justice Stefanie Hubig, Minister of Research Dorothee Bär, Minister of Labor Bärbel BAS).
Just listed a prime minister with an electric car
As in previous years, Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) and some other federal ministers were not evaluated due to their heavy armor.
According to Duh, only Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) drives an electric car of the 16 heads of the federal states. Last year Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher was performed with an electric car, this time he is in the list with a plug-in hybrid.
