Putin declared the unconditional interests of the Russian Federation and the security of its citizens

Ensuring the defense capability of Russia remains the most important state task, and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation serve as a reliable guarantee of the peaceful life of citizens. This was announced on Wednesday, February 23, by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an address on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day.

“The interests of the Russian Federation and the security of citizens are unconditional for us, we will continue to develop the army and navy,” the Russian leader emphasized.

According to the head of state, Russia’s calls to build a system of equal and indivisible security that would reliably protect all countries remain unanswered.

“Our country is always open for direct and honest dialogue, for finding diplomatic solutions to the most complex problems,” he said.

The President of Russia noted that surprise checks and regular large-scale exercises showed that the training and coordination of units and formations of the Russian army had seriously increased. The RF Armed Forces have become more mobile and gained new combat experience.

“During the operation in Syria, they proved in practice that they are capable of solving the most complex tasks. The training and coherence of units and formations has grown significantly. This is clearly shown by surprise checks, maneuvers, regular large-scale exercises, including with the participation of our allies, as well as responsible peacekeeping operations,” Putin said.

He added that “a weapon that has no equal in the world has been put on combat duty.”

“We will continue to develop promising weapons systems, including hypersonic and based on new physical principles, and expand the use of advanced digital technologies and elements of artificial intelligence. Such complexes are indeed the weapons of the future, which at times increase the combat potential of our armed forces,” the Russian leader noted.

The head of state also drew attention to the difficult international situation and NATO’s activity.

“We see how difficult the international situation is, what dangers are fraught with existing challenges, such as the loosening of the arms control system or the military activity of the NATO bloc,” Putin said.

The President in his congratulations noted the great importance of the personal qualities of Russian soldiers.

“We understand that the most advanced technology is driven by people. Modern knowledge and excellent preparation are extremely important here. But the personal qualities of Russian soldiers have always, at any time, been of great importance. Such as patriotism, resilience, dedication, mutual assistance. The role of the commander is irreplaceable in their formation,” the Russian leader explained.

In his opinion, the Russian officer corps is not only “the backbone, foundation, core of the army and navy”, but also people who are sincerely devoted to Russia and their military duty.

“I thank you for faithful and honest service to the Motherland, for the responsible training of personnel, for fulfilling your duties conscientiously and with high dedication, sacredly preserving the spirit and character of the national military school,” the president concluded.

In October 2021, Izvestia’s sources in the Russian Defense Ministry reported that another hypersonic weapon system was being created in Russia. It is being implemented as part of the research and development work (R&D) “Lachinka-MD”.

At the moment, the product is at the stage of working out the layout, it has not yet been released for flight tests. The new missile is designed to equip Su-57 stealth fighters. Presumably, it will fly at speeds five or more times faster than sound and become virtually invulnerable to modern air and missile defense systems.
