Digital Minister urges ministries to reduce bureaucracy

Germany has had a ministry for digital and state modernization for a few months. Department of department and ex-manager Karsten Wildberger presses the pace when it comes to reducing bureaucracy.
Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger puts pressure on state modernization. In a letter to the ministers of the Federal Government, the CDU politician calls on their departments to submit projects for reducing bureaucracy in the respective houses by 15 September. “Bild” first reported on the letter that was sent on August 5th. The German press agency is also available.
The specialist level of his house will come to the departments and ask the current status of the “bureaucrator dismantling project”. “I hope for a good cooperation and thank you in advance for your delivery by September 15, 2025,” says the letter. A cabinet meeting in October should focus on “deregulation and de -bureaucratization”.
“Germany has accumulated bureaucratic concrete for decades – now we have to remove it consistently. The state has to trust citizens and companies again and trust them more,” said Wildberger “Bild”.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) had brought the former top manager from MediaMarktsatur to his cabinet. The newly created Ministry of Digital and State Modernization should take care of a modernization of the administration (online citizens’ services, bureaucracy, data traffic and better networks.
