During Russian air strikes on Ukraine, NATO alerts two German Eurofighter in Romania. The NATO airroom was unharmed.

Because of Russian air strikes on the border region of Ukraine in Romania, NATO alerted two German Eurofighter. The fighter planes started because Russian weapons systems approached Romania’s airspace, a Bundeswehr spokesman said at the request of the German Press Agency. The airspace was ultimately not injured in the incident on Wednesday night.



The machines launched by the Romanian military airfield Mihail Kogălniceanu near Constanta landed again without incident. He was the first alarm start of the new mission.

The Air Force is currently participating with five Eurofighers and around 170 soldiers in armed protection flights to secure the southeast flank of the alliance (“NATO mission Enhanced Air Policing South”). The use helps the NATO partner with military skills that he does not have sufficient.

The German fighter planes are part of an alarm rotting on site that is ready for the start around the clock. Several NATO countries alternate with the support. The new German commitment began this month and is scheduled to last until March 2026.
