Warsaw: Drone crashed in Poland comes from Russia

First a flash of light, then a bang. A military drone strikes in a field in Eastern Poland. A great crater is created. Poland’s government speaks of a Russian provocation.

According to the government in Warsaw, a flight object crashed in Poland on a corn field is a Russian drone. “Russia provokes NATO countries again,” said Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. This is done at a moment when there is efforts to peace in the Ukraine attacked by Russia. All NATO alliance partners had been taught about the incident, said Kosiniak-Kamysz. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a protest note on Moscow.

NATO initially did not want to comment on the incident on request.

In the early morning, the drone fell into a field near the village of Osiny about a hundred kilometers southeast of Warsaw. Recordings from the local LukowTV portal showed a flash of light and then a loud bang. In several houses nearby, windows broke. Nobody was injured.

Spring charge for self -destruction on board

The police officers called by residents found burned plastic and metal debris at the place of impact. The portal onet published pictures from social networks on which a charred engine was seen with a propeller.

A representative of the army command of the army said that the drone engine was a model available in many markets, which was produced in China. The same applies to the on -board electronics. The explosive load on board the drone was not great and probably served the self -destruction. “It was definitely not an explosive head for battle inserts.” It is therefore suspected that the drone was a so -called deco -bird. Flight objects of this type are used to distract the opposing air defense.

Drone flew under the radar of Polen’s air defense

The drone had flown very low and probably not noticed by the radar systems of the Polish air defense, the army representative said. The high command had announced in the morning that the systems had not registered a violation of airspace via Poland.

The prosecutor responsible for the investigation said that the drone left a crater of around six meters in diameter and 50 centimeters depth. It is unclear whether the explosion in the air or only on the ground was made. The turning point is about 120 kilometers from Poland’s border to Ukraine and around 100 kilometers from the border to Belarus.
