Court collects huge fine for Trump and sons
The US President celebrates further legal success. Even though the court confirms that it had cheated.
A Court of Appeal in New York has lifted a fine of hundreds of million dollars against US President Donald Trump. The judges confirmed Trump’s liability for fraud, but described the fine imposed by the court in the first instance as “excessive” and as a violation of the US constitution, as several US media unanimously reported. A new punishment must be imposed.
Trump as well as his sons and some employees were sentenced to a payment of $ 454 million in the New York fraud process last year – including interest, the sum increased. In the opinion of the court, Trump has manipulated the value of his Trump organization by billions of bills in order to get cheaper loans and insurance contracts.
Trump speaks of “total victory”
The Court of Appeal in New York now found that the actual connection between profit and the damage had not been sufficiently presented. The punishment is not based on a reasonable estimate.
Trump celebrated the decision on his Truth Social platform despite the maintenance of the conviction as a “total victory”. The process was a “witch hunt”. He had great respect for the court that “had this illegal and scandalous decision”.
President’s son Eric Trump presented the decision as a victory above all about the democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James: “Full of victory in the Feinschehenverlahlung against the General Prosecutor of New York !!! After five years of hell, justice won!” He wrote on X.
