The households for this and the next year have not yet been decided – but true concerns will make the budget of the budget for 2027. He is already tightening the tone in the cabinet.
Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil wants to start building the difficult federal budget for 2027 in September. In a letter that is available to the German Press Agency, he calls for his cabinet colleagues a “joint effort”. The Vice Chancellor does not rule out that laws also have to be changed to stuff the huge funding gap and previous claims must be deleted.
According to the letter, a gap of more than 30 billion euros is placed in the budget plans for 2027. “I expect substantial suggestions to consolidate the federal budget in their respective individual plans,” emphasizes the SPD leader. This also applies to “non -disposable means, the use of which trigger an additional possible legislative need for action”.
The hoped -for economic growth and previously agreed savings in the administration and funding programs were not sufficient, Klingbeil made it clear in the letter. “In view of the major challenges, our answers must also be greater.” Now priorities would have to be set, not everything desirable could also be financed.
The State Secretaries of the individual ministries should meet in the first half of September to discuss the further steps. This is comparatively early: Usually the work on the budget 2027 would only really begin in spring 2026.
