Epstein affair: Ministry provides statements from Epstein confidants

The US Ministry of Justice has published protocols and records of interrogations with Ghislaine Maxwell, the ex-partner of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The documents, which extend several 100 pages, document discussions with her under the direction of the deputy general prosecutor’s Attorney Todd Blanche from the end of July. Accordingly, there is no list of Epstein’s clients – a central point that was repeatedly picked up in conspiracy theories.

At the end of July, the Attorney General had once again asked Maxwell about Epstein and announced at the time that the Ministry of Justice would announce further information on the findings in due course. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in New York in 2022. She had played a central role in building a ring for the sexual abuse of girls. Since then she has been in prison.

Maxwell: Clinton was never on Epstein’s Caribbean island

According to the protocol, Maxwell said about ex-US President Bill Clinton that he was never on a Caribbean island of Epstein. Trump had recently kept saying that Clinton was said to have been on the island several times. Epstein had a private island named Little St. James, which is said to have been a crime scene. He had systematically abused minors for many years. In 2019, the convicted sex criminal at the age of 66 committed suicide in his prison cell.

In parts of the US company, Epstein’s death caused wild speculation because he had the best contacts in the American high society. Prominent and billionaires went in and out of him-US President Trump also spent time with Epstein. According to the protocols published on Friday, Maxwell said that he had never “inappropriated in any way” in any way.

Trump does not hold up election promises

In the election campaign, Trump had promised to completely open the Epstein files. Because he has not been doing this so far, the pressure grew on him – also from his own camp. With the publication of the interrogation protocols, the US government now seems to try to reduce the pressure-however, the actual election promise is far from being fulfilled. He wanted to disclose all investigative documents, which has not happened until today.

Trump under pressure – allegation of the diversion maneuver

Most recently, the US government had started several initiatives for allegedly more transparency. Among other things, selected court documents in connection with Epstein should be released. However, several federal judges received the applications. The documents were only about those that were presented with so -called Grand juries.

These bodies decide whether charges are charged in a certain case. As a rule, the jurors only see and hear statements and evidence that are necessary for an indictment of the accused person – in this case Epstein himself – but do not provide information on the possible participation of other people. Many observers evaluated Trump’s advance as a distraction maneuver.
