In 2027 the term of office of Federal President Steinmeier ends. Who follows him?
Chancellor Friedrich Merz advertises that in 2027 a woman will be elected Federal President. The CDU chairman said at the open day of the Federal Government in Berlin: “I can very well imagine that in 2027 we will choose a woman for the first time in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany as the Federal President. That would be good.”
Merz commented on the question of a citizen. The second and thus last term of office by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier ends in March 2027.
Merz continued that it was his decision to propose Julia Klöckner for the election as President of the Bundestag. “I do everything for it so that the representation of women is also improved in our country’s top offices.”
