An air raid of Israel costs 15 people in Chan Junis, including four journalists. The military confirmed the incident and ordered an investigation.
According to the hospital, 15 people were killed in an Israeli attack in the south of the Gaza Strip, including at least four journalists. According to the Nasser Hospital, they were fatally hit during an air raid when they were on the fourth floor of the clinic in the southern city of Chan Junis.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on four killed journalists. According to the Associated Press news agency, a freelance employee of AP, the 33-year-old Mariam Dagga, was also among those killed. The Reuters news agency also reported that a freelancer from Reuters was killed and another photographer of the agency – also a freelancer – was injured.
The Arab television station Al-Jasira reported that a cameraman from the station was fatally hit. It was initially unclear which medium the fourth killed journalist worked for. According to Wafa, paramedics also died.
Israel’s military confirmed attack on hospital
The Israeli army initially announced that she checked the reports. In the meantime, the military has confirmed the attack. One regretted every damage to uninvolved and do not target journalists, according to an explanation. The chief of staff ordered an enforcement examination. The military does not share who the attack was on.
Eyewitnesses reported that there was an attack on the fourth floor in the reception building of the Nasser Hospital, in which the journalists were. As a paramedic and civil protection employee, there was another attack. In social media, video recordings circulated by the bloody incident. The Arabic broadcaster Al-Ghad showed a video in which it was seen how a group of people was hit in an attack. It was apparently the second attack.
Almost 200 journalists killed in the Gaza War
According to the committee for the protection of journalists (CPJ), almost 200 journalists have been killed since the beginning of the Gaza War, most of them Palestinians.
According to Wafa, a Palestinian cameraman was only killed in the northern Gaza Strip of Israeli soldiers on Saturday. The Palestinian Association of Journalists spoke of an “continuous Israeli campaign against journalists, the aim of which is to silence the Palestinian descriptions”.
In the middle of the month, four employees of the Arab TV broadcaster Al-Jasira were killed in the city of Gaza. Israel’s military had confirmed the death of the correspondent Anas al-Sharif. The 28-year-old had pretended to be Al-Jasira journalist, but he led a terrorist cell of the Islamist Hamas, the army said at the time-without providing clear evidence.
