20 people, including five journalists, die in an Israeli attack on the Nasser Hospital in the Gaza Strip. The first results of an investigation through the army are now available.
According to a preliminary examination of the army, the Israeli attack on the Nasser Hospital in the Gaza Strip aimed at the destruction of a surveillance camera installed by the Hamas. The camera was placed on the site of the clinic to observe Israeli troops during their missions and ultimately commit terrorist activities against them, the military said.
After the troops discovered the camera, they proceeded to remove the “threat” and had destroyed the camera, it said.
According to Palestinian information, 20 people were killed in the attack on the hospital on Monday in Chan Junis in southern Gaza Strip. Among the dead were also five journalists, some of whom worked for international media. According to the information, paramedics also died in the attack on the clinic. The outrage over the incident was internationally great. The Israeli military announced a thorough investigation after the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported that there was initially an attack on the fourth floor in the reception building of the hospital, in which the journalists were. As a paramedic and civil protection employee, there was another attack on the site.
The preliminary investigation does not show which ammunition was used in the attack. At first it was assumed that it was an air raid. Media reported that it was probably tank attacks. According to the chief of staff Ejal Zamir, according to the announcement, it ordered several open points to further examine – including the process of approval of the attack and the ammunition used.
The military said that Hamas used the Nasser Hospital for its terrorist activities throughout the Gaza War. The investigation also showed that six of the people killed in the attack were terrorists, one of whom is said to have been involved in the massacre of October 7, 2023. The information could not be checked independently.
General chief of staff Zamir regretted regret about civilian victims. The army directed its missions exclusively against military goals, it said.
