According to a media report, Germany approved more arms exports than ever before last year. The exports to third countries have almost doubled.
The Federal Government approved arms exports of 12.83 billion euros last year – Germany exported more war goods than ever.
In first place in the recipient countries, Ukraine is a volume of 8.15 billion euros, as can be seen from an arms export report, which is available to the pro newsletter Industry & Trade of the news magazine “Politico” (Wednesday). The armor expires reached a record high last year. In 2023, weapons worth 12.13 billion euros were exported.
According to the information, the largest proportion of German exports stated military chain and cycling vehicles with a value of 4.4 billion euros, followed by bombs, torpedoes and air bodies worth 2.9 billion euros and warships (1.5 billion euros).
Arms exports to third countries have almost doubled
The volume of arms exports to Germany’s partner decreased compared to the previous year. In 2024 arms goods worth 1.58 billion euros exported in the EU, NATO or NATO equal countries-in the previous year there were still a value of six billion euros. Exports to the EU were even lower in 2024 with 736 million euros than ten years ago (817 million euros). In total, exports to partners only made twelve percent of exports – in 2023 it was still half.
However, exports to third countries were 11.26 billion euros, which is almost a doubling of the previous year.
Last year, 306 armored combat vehicles, 316 rockets and rocket systems, 78 fighter tanks and eleven large -caliber artillery systems went to Ukraine. Other big orders went to Singapore.
62 applications and thus 17 more than in the previous year were rejected by the federal government. According to the arms export report, applications from Pakistan, Thailand and Malaysia were rejected.
