Local workers from Afghanistan – let them go to Germany!

The Federal Government must now start Afghan local forces from Pakistan. Well, because a promise is a promise. But why the thing has a catch.
So now! The federal government will have Afghans entered from Pakistan in the coming days. These are people who have either worked as local workers for the Bundeswehr or who are at home in their homeland. They all unite that they already have the promise to be accepted by Germany.
Around 2000 are currently in Pakistan, always threatened by deportation to Afghanistan. Nevertheless, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) had announced after taking office to subject each and each one to a security check.
In contrast, some of those affected had sued in Germany and received it right. The Federal Foreign Office threatens a penalty payment if the visa does not issue it. Now the federal government is introducing.
Left and rights instrumentalize the decision
This is water on the mills of the polarization fans from left and right. For the left side, it symbolizes the defeat of an ruthless “Merz regime”, which contained human rights. For the right, it is another failure of a softly cooked Union and an unmistakable sign that this country is consecrated to doom.
Both are nonsense. The topic of local workers is complex. These are Afghans who worked as a driver, interpreter, cleaning staff, etc. for the Bundeswehr and were exposed to the Taliban and the withdrawal of the Germans because of this activity. A little more than 1000 Afghans are affected (including family members).
Protection concept for local workers was expanded
However, the commitment commitment was extended at the time, to employees of aid organizations and other people who endangered Afghans and Afghan women, for example human rights activists. Overall are meanwhile already ETwas more than 20,000 people with the local worker program Germany came, as well as another around 15,000 people who fall into the second category.
The number is also so large because the family structures in Afghanistan are different. The Federal Government originally assumed households with up to five members who would have to be admitted. However, there are usually significantly more. Among the current lawsuits against the federal government is the case of a lawyer and her 13 relatives who are waiting for departure.
There is a lot to suggest that the admission of admission at the time was very generously created. It also does not help that reports about entry became known in which no particular hazard is said to have had a special hazard to increase the willingness to accept in Germany. Especially since in the face of increasing health insurance contributions and residential prices, some ask the question of how many capacities you still have for humanitarian shots.
Germany would harm itself
In the case of the local workers, however, the following also applies: a promise is a promise. If locals in crisis countries can no longer rely on the fact that Germans adhere to their word, they will no longer risk any cooperation in the future. The reputation of the Federal Republic as a negotiating or contractual partner would also suffer. Germany would harm itself massively if it had his word.
Dobrindt chose the worst way
For upcoming missions, you will have to think about how to deal with it – and how security reviews can be accelerated so that only those who owe something in Germany or who really want Germany here.
The worst way is that Alexander Dobrindt chose. He tried to wait until other countries (in this case Pakistan) solve the problem for him.
That may be a lot: inertia or distracting of too slow exams, for example. But one thing is certainly not: a self -confident, goal -oriented form of politics that regains the trust of people.
