According to matching reports, the federal prosecutor knows all members of the command that the North Stream pipeline blew up in the Baltic Sea. The authority is silent.

According to a media report, German authorities have succeeded in identifying all members of the command to be responsible for the sabotage of the North Stream pipelines in September 2022. There are a total of seven Ukrainian suspects, on Wednesday, referring to joint research and. There were arrest warrants against six of them. The seventh is said to have been killed in struggles against the Russian army in December 2024.

As “Die Zeit” continued, the command is said to have consisted of a skipper, a coordinator – the recently arrested Serhii K. -, an explosive expert and four divers. A member of the group, the Ukrainian soldier WSEWOLOD K., who has now killed, received military training from the Bundeswehr in the Bavarian Wildflecken last year.

According to the report, the investigation also suspended that the group was able to carry out the attack using Ukrainian authorities. The suspects traveled to Germany with Ukrainian original passes through Poland, which, however, contained incorrect names. One of the suspects was also brought to Ukraine in a car of the Ukrainian military attaché from Poland in a car of the Ukrainian military attaché to avoid arrest.

Silence to North Stream suspects

The federal prosecutor did not want to comment on the report on request. Just last week, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Italy had the 49-year-old Serhii K. arrested. The authority said this was the alleged coordinator of the command. So far, Italy has refused to deliver the man to Germany.

The North Stream pipelines under the Baltic Sea had been built to transport Russian gas to Germany. In September 2022, they were badly damaged by explosive devices. The lines were not in operation at the time. Russia had stopped gas deliveries via Nord Stream 1 shortly before – presumably in response to the western sanctions in view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Nord Stream 2 never went into operation.

In October 2022, the federal prosecutor took over the investigation into the sabotage campaign. As she announced when K. was arrested, the command placed explosive devices near the Danish island of Bornholm at the lines. The command used a sailing yacht for the transport that started from Rostock.
