In September, the province of Buenos Aires will be elected. President Milei shows himself at an election campaign event – and is attacked.

Argentina’s president Javier Milei according to his spokesman at an election campaign event in a suburb of the capital Buenos Aires was thrown at stones. Milei was brought away from security forces unharmed, the spokesman for the ultra -liberal president said on Wednesday in online service X.

Milei was on board a vehicle when it was attacked by demonstrators. According to an AFP reporter, the car column was also thrown at plants and bottles. The vehicle then quickly left the scene. The event had been ended abruptly, as several media reported.

This was followed by hand agents between supporters and opponents of the President. A mile tag was injured on the ribs and brought away by an ambulance.

Government representative of Javier Milei blame political opponents

Milei later published a photo that shows him with a thumb raised next to his sister, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, and MP José Luis Espert.

Several government representatives then blamed supporters of “churchnerism” for the attack in the city of Lomas de Zamora in the province of Buenos Aires. This relates to the political camp around ex-President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who is known in Argentina as “Kirchnerismo”.

The incident occurred against the background of a corruption scandal that currently employs Argentina. The trigger was the publication of audio recordings by the former head of the authority for people with disabilities, Diego Spagnuolo. In it, Spagnuolo claims that Karina Milei misappropriated funds that were intended for people with disabilities.

Immediately before the outbreak of violence at the election campaign event, Milei came to the scandal. “Everything that says (the head of the authority) is a lie,” said the Argentine President.

On September 7, the legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires are also pending.
