Three Americans are said to have tried to sneak into Greenland’s society. This causes new trouble between Denmark and the USA.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ordered a rank-high employee of the US message after media reported hidden influence from Americans in Greenland. This was said by Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to the television station dr.
The broadcaster reported that at least three Americans had tried to “infiltrate” the Greenland society with connections to US President Donald Trump in order to weaken the relationship between the Arctic Land to Denmark. The broadcaster referred to Danish government and authority circles as well as anonymous sources in Greenland and the USA.
In the past few months, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his interest in wanting to take control of Greenland for reasons of national and international security. The island is largely autonomous, but is officially part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Both countries have clearly rejected Trump’s desires.
Denmark’s Foreign Minister: Inclusion in Greenland “Inacceptable”
Even now Denmark’s Foreign Minister Rasmussen told the broadcaster DR: “Any attempt to interference in the internal matters of the kingdom is of course unacceptable.”
According to the report, one of the men has created, among other things, a list of names of Greenlanders, which US President Trump should be well-minded and which he could recruit for an independence movement. He also made a list of locals that are supposed to be critical of the United States. At first there was no reaction from the White House.
In May, the “Wall Street Journal” reported that the US government asked its secret services to find out more about the independence movement in Greenland and how the Greenlanders and the Danes stand for the breakdown of raw materials on the island. Even then, a US diplomat was ordered to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
