The corpses of Ilan Weiss and an unidentified hostage are back in Israel. So 48 Hamas hostages are still in Gaza, but only 20 should still live.
Israel’s army has recovered the corpses of two people from Israel, which is kidnapped in the Gaza Strip and brought to Israel. One of the kidnapped is Ilan Weiss, an Israeli who was already killed on the day of the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, as the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, according to his office.
At first there was no information about the identity of the second person. The remains would be identified. A total of 48 hostages are now held in the Gaza Strip, 20 of which are said to be alive.

Ilan Weiss came from the Beeri Kibbutz and tried to ward off the penetrating terrorists during the grand attack by Hamas and other Islamists. It was only in January 2024 that it was officially confirmed that he was killed.
“Ilan demonstrated courage and grandmothers in the fight against the terrorists on this dark day. He gave life with his death,” said Israel’s President Izchak Herzog. He expressed his pity for the family. Weiss’ wife and one of his three daughters were kidnapped and were released almost two months later as part of a Gaza agreement. According to reports, the man was 56 years old.
