Kamala Harris, Donald Trump’s competitor in the US presidential election 2024, will no longer have personal protection through the Secret Service.
US President Donald Trump has lifted personal protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris, his rival in the past presidential election. This was announced by a representative of the White House on Friday. Accordingly, protection through the Secret Service ends on September 1st. A corresponding letter to Harris was dated Thursday, it said.
Former vice presidents usually receive protection from the Secret Service for six months after they left the office. Harris’ protection, however, was extended by Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden to a year until January 2026 before his departure from office, the government official said. A high -ranking consultant of Harris, Kirsten Allen, said: “The Vice President thanks the Secret Service of the United States for its professionalism, commitment and unshakable use for security.”
Kamala Harris was defeated by Donald Trump
Harris had lost the 2024 presidential election against Trump. However, she did not rule out a possible candidacy for 2028. The abolition of protection coincides with the beginning of your reading tour for your memoirs “107 Days”. The title refers to the 107 days in which she was the presidential candidate of the Democrats after the withdrawal of Biden. Trump has also withdrawn government protection, including critics such as the former national security advisor John Bolton. In March he ended the protection for bidens children Hunter and Ashley Biden.
