Kyiv continues to wait for a direct meeting of the President of Ukraine and Russia. Instead, the Kremlin practices excuses and excuses.
The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj continues to see no willingness to talk to Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin. Two weeks ago, it was announced in Washington that Moscow should be “exactly today” for a meeting at the management level, Selenskyj recalled in his evening video address. “But the only thing Russia does is investing in the further war.”
And Putin only did new excuses during his current visit to China. “This is his favorite sport,” said Selenskyj. The need for a quick end of war is emphasized worldwide. “The only one who wants war is Russia.”
Despite the direct negotiations of the President of Russia and Ukraine expected by Washington, Moscow has so far not been willing to talk. So far there have been only excuses from the Kremlin. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently even emphasized that Putin did not want to speak to Selenskyj because he doubts his legitimacy as President of Ukraine, since despite the past term under war law – in accordance with the Ukrainian constitution – he was still at the top of the state in Kiev. Putin himself has been ruling continuously since 2012, also thanks to his favor of changed constitutional determination during the term.
