Ukraine conflict: Ukrainian President Zelenskyj declares a state of war

After Putin’s announced military operation in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Zelenskyj declared his country a state of war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared a state of war across the country. He announced this in a video message. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously ordered a military operation against the neighboring country.

Many unverifiable reports of acts of war, including outside the separatist areas, quickly circulated on the Internet. Belarusian propaganda channels on Telegram in particular published photos and videos during the night and wrote, among other things, about alleged rocket attacks on Kiev and Kharkiv. This information was initially not verifiable.

A reporter from the German Press Agency in Kiev reported that there was an air raid alarm in the city. The first people left the city area, but there was initially no major panic. There were reports in the Ukrainian media of strikes in eastern Ukraine from the cities of Kharkiv and Dnipro, as well as from Odessa, Berdyansk and Kramatorsk, according to the state news agency Ukrinform.
