First the federal government stepped onto the brakes on the recording program for endangered Afghans. After months of waiting, several families have now arrived in Germany.
For the first time since the start of the black and red coalition, Afghans have arrived in Germany with reception commitments. Several families were brought to Hanover by regular flight from Pakistan with a stopover in Istanbul. As a photographer of the German press agency reported, the machine from Istanbul landed at Hanover-Langenhagen Airport at around 2 p.m.
The 45 Afghan nationals were only people who had obtained the allocation of Visa through legal proceedings, a spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior said. “All of these people have completely gone through the admission procedure and the security test,” she added.
Many Afghan families have been waiting for months or years in Islamabad. A woman had said the dpa at the airport in the Pakistani capital Islamabad before her departure that she had been waiting for her departure for 14 months and spent the time in Islamabad full of worries. Now she is looking forward to a life in freedom and security.
New federal government stopped recording program
The black and red federal government had stopped the recording program for particularly endangered Afghan women in May. In addition to former local forces of German institutions and their relatives, Afghans should also be admitted through the program, who have to fear the persecution by the Islamist Taliban, for example because they have campaigned in the past as lawyers or journalists for human rights. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, there are no former Bundeswehr local powers or other German institutions that are active in Hanover.
The fact that, despite the stop, some of those affected were still allowed to travel with their relatives, it is because they had sued in Germany to enforce their entry. Some of those affected are supported by the “Kabul Airbrücke” organization. According to the Federal Foreign Office, there are currently around 85 rush procedures that are pending in court.
Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul (CDU) said: “As a coalition, we have clearly agreed to end voluntary entrance programs as far as possible – we stand by that.” However, legally binding admission commitments would be observed. “This is why almost 50 people can enter Germany today.”
Deportations to Afghanistan
The matter had received additional urgency after the Pakistani authorities had started to deport Afghans from the German recording program to Afghanistan.
The Federal Foreign Office announced that there are currently 2,100 people in Pakistan and 200 in Afghanistan. In mid -August, the federal government announced that around 210 people from the program that had recently been in Pakistan had been deported to Afghanistan. You are in contact with them.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) had rejected criticism of the duration of the recording process a week ago. He emphasized: “I am not ready to do without regular admission procedures, I am not ready to forego security checks.”
Foreign Minister penetrates more speed
WADEPHUL now said: “I am extremely grateful to the Pakistani side, especially my counterpart, that we can now extend the period for these review measures by the end of the year.” He now expects the German security authorities to use this time effectively. The Greens chairman Franziska Brantner said that it was “good that this government is still holding on judgments”.
Checks are still running
A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced that “the large part of people did not yet go through all the steps in the admission process”. When asked by journalists, he explains that this affects over 90 percent.
New court decision
In the dispute over the granting of Visa for Afghans to enter Germany, a federal government court has meanwhile granted far -reaching freedom of choice. As long as authorities have not yet assured those affected and thus legally bound, they should review previous decisions, the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg (OVG) decided.
It explained the temporary stop of the admission procedures for local workers and, due to their previous activity, people endangered, as a spokesman said.
Success for foreign office
There is still no entitlement to a visa from a willingness to accept, the judges said. The programs were made on the basis of political decisions. The Federal Government had the right to check whether the previous political interest in the inclusion of the applicants was still available. The Federal Foreign Office’s complaint against a decision by the Berlin Administrative Court was successful in the urgent procedure.
In the specific case, it was about a former high -ranking judge of Afghanistan as well as his wife and the four children. At the end of 2022 he was signaled to accept him on a “bridging list”. When he referred to it and requested Visa, this was rejected in early summer 2025. As a reason, the Federal Foreign Office stated that an entry within the programs was suspended.
