Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul has started his two-day trip to India with an economic policy focus in the high-tech metropolis Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore). Against the background of the shortage of skilled workers in Germany, he is looking for a conversation with German students at the Goethe Institute in the city in the province of Karnataka in the southwest of the country about their wishes and perspectives.



The Federal Government sees great potential in the most populous country and the world’s greatest democracy with around 1.4 billion inhabitants to combat the shortage of skilled workers. The city of Bengaluru is also known as “Silicon Valley” of India because of its great concentration of IT companies.

Visit to the satellite festival center


In the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organization ISRO, WADEPHUL later wants to find out about the developments in the satellite test center there. According to the will of the government in Neu-Delhi, Indian astronauts are said to have landed on the moon by 2040. In the next few years there will be the first manned spatial flight – for a three -person crew in India’s first manned spacecraft “Gaganyaan” (sky vehicle). In 2028, the unmanned “Chandrayaan-4” mission is to bring samples from the moon to earth.

When visiting the Mercedes-Benz research and development center, the Federal Foreign Minister also wants to exchange ideas with German business representatives. Later he wants to visit an innovation park and the campus of the German software company SAP in Bengaluru – Wadephul also wants to open a visitor center there and discuss with employees. In the evening (local time), the minister wants to continue to the capital Neu-Delhi, where political discussions are planned on Wednesday.
