In the process of alleged espionage for China, AfD politician Maximilian Krah is invited as a witness. His former assistant is said to have worked for a secret service for more than two decades.
According to the then MP Maximilian Krah, his former employee, who was a former employee, had unhindered access to his personal accounts. The team changed the password together every half years, said the AfD politician at the trial at the Dresden Higher Regional Court. The same password was used for everything.
His employees were able to access documents, emails and calendars. He delegated tasks such as managing access rights and the sorting of emails and appointments to his team. “I hate all this stuff,” said Krah.
Ex-employee presumably works for Chinese secret service
The accused Jian G. accuses the Federal Attorney General for a Chinese secret service. As an assistant in Krah’s MPs’ office in the European Parliament, he is said to have collected information from 2019 to 2024 and sometimes passed on to Chinese bodies. He also compiled personal information about AfD leadership staff and spied out Chinese dissidents. As early as 2002, the German is said to have been employees of a Chinese secret service.
From 2019 to 2025, Krah was a member of the European Parliament and member of the committees for international trade, but also in the sub -committees for human rights as well as security and defense. He was also part of the delegation for relationships with the USA. In the Bundestag election in February, he won the direct mandate in the Chemnitz Umland constituency – Erzgebirge district II and is now a member of the Bundestag.
Krah and G. have known each other since 2015
According to his own statements, Krah met the accused in 2015. At the time, he represented the company as a lawyer, whose managing director G. was before moving to the European Parliament. When Krah was elected MEP in 2019, he brought the accused into a team because of his skills in the field of foreign trade.
According to Krah’s own statement, Krah knew nothing about a membership of GS in China’s Communist Party. He described his former employee as a “shine abroad”, who was not satisfied with the type of Chinese government, but appreciated economic progress. He had not received indications of a possible danger from German or European authorities, said Krah. Since G. went through a security check in his job in the European Parliament, he rely on the fact that everything was good.
Investigations also against Krah
The Dresden public prosecutor’s office is investigating a separate procedure on Krah’s role in the alleged agent activity of its ex-employee and has requested that it to remove his immunity as a member of the Bundestag. If you have a question about possible payments GS to him, Krah made use of his right to refuse to testify.
Seven further negotiation dates are scheduled in the trial before the Higher Regional Court by the end of September. In addition to the former employee Krahs, a suspected accomplice is also charged. The Chinese Jaqi X. accuse the investigators of having worked on the accused. As an employee of a logistics service company at Leipzig Airport, she repeatedly sent him data on flights, freight and passengers – especially for the transport of armaments.
