Hamas is ready for agreements – Israel: “Empty words”

While Israel’s army drives the preparations for taking the city of Gaza, Hamas will be willing to “comprehensive agreement”. Israel sees nothing new in it – and increases the pressure.

Israel calls the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas to surrender – otherwise the city of Gaza will be destroyed. Israel’s Ministry of Defense, as “empty words”, dismissed a message from Hamas, in which she now agreed to a “comprehensive agreement”. Either accepted the Hamas Israel’s conditions for an end to the war – which includes the release of all hostages and the disarmament of the Islamists – or the city of Gaza will end like Rafah and Beit Hanun. Both cities in the sealed Gaza Strip had been destroyed by Israel’s army.

Hamas had previously stated in a message that it continued to be waiting for Israel’s answer to the proposal of the international mediators for a ceasefire. One is ready to “provide a comprehensive agreement that provides for the release of all enemy prisoners recorded by the resistance in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners of the crew”. Hamas always speaks of prisoners in the hostages it delivers. It is also agreed to form the formation of an “independent, technocratic national administration” for the Gaza Strip.

Protests in front of Netanyahu’s house

In a statement by the office by the Israeli head of government Benjamin Netanyahu it was said that when notified Hamas, it was nothing more than a “further manipulation” of the terrorist organization. It does not contain anything new. The war can be ended immediately under the conditions adopted by the Israeli cabinet. In addition to the release of all hostages and the disarmament of Hamas, this also includes the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, Israeli security control over the coastal strip and the establishment of an alternative civil administration, which neither draws on violence nor send terrorists or threatens Israel.

In Jerusalem, there were protest ranges in the evening, in which, according to local media, tens of thousands of people took part. Members of the hostages demanded an end to the war before Netanyahus residential building and an agreement on the release of the hostages. The head of government accused the demonstrator of exceeding a line by blocking streets and “threatening death every day”, as he claimed in a statement. “You talk and act like fascists.” He accused the police not to provide order. According to the media, the police used water cannons.

Opposition leader demands Gaza Agreement

Israel’s opposition leader Jair Lapid urged Netanyahu’s right -back government to conclude an agreement with Hamas about an end to the war and the release of the hostages. “The Israeli government is not obliged to accept Hamas’ conditions; however, it is obliged to immediately return to the negotiating table and try to achieve an agreement,” wrote Lapid on the platform X.

Lapid added that it should not even be tried to take the hostage home. Israel had accepted a proposal by Steve Witkoff in spring. He envisaged a 60-day ceasefire, while the ten-living hostages are released in return for Palestinian prisoners. However, Hamas had rejected him at the time and insisted on a deal for an end to the war.

However, Hamas recently reacted “positively” to an updated proposal by the intermediary. In the meantime, however, Israel signals that it is not interested in a partial agreement. Critics accuse Israel of Prime Minister Netanyahu to length for political reasons. His right -wing extremist coalition partners, whose political survival depends, are against a ceasefire. US President Donald Trump now asked Hamas to leave all living hostages free of charge at once.

Trump urges Hamas to release the hostages

“Says Hamas that she should release all 20 hostages immediately (not 2 or 5 or 7!), And the situation will change quickly. It will end!” The Republican wrote on the online platform Truth Social. The forum of the hostage members reacted to Trump’s statements with the words: “We want to clarify: This nightmare cannot be over for our nation until all 48 hostages have been found – those who were brutally murdered in hell in these 700 days.” The forum called on the US President to get the kidnapped and end the war.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army is driving its preparations for taking the city of Gaza. In the largest population center in the north of the sealed Gaza Strip, around one million people are estimated. Israel’s military calls for evacuation and wants the civilians to go south, where tent camps are built for them. The “Jerusalem Post” quoted unconfirmed estimates, according to which only 60,000 to 80,000 residents are said to have left the city south.

Report: Hamas wants to prevent civilians from leaving the city

The newspaper quoted a ranking source in defense circles, which is not mentioned by name, according to which Hamas supposedly attempts to prevent civilians from leaving the city through intimidation and threat of violence. She wanted to use her as a human protective shield. In addition, Hamas speculates that Israel gets under additional diplomatic pressure to end the war should civilians get into the crossfire, it said. Regardless, these claims could not be checked at first.

“We will continue to act against the most important strongholds of Hamas until your defeat; we give you the feeling of being persecuted all the time,” said Israeli chief of staff Ejal Zamir. The war will not end before the mission was fulfilled: the return of all hostages and the defeat of Hamas, Zamir said according to the army.

The war was triggered by the terrorist attack by Hamas and other Islamist groups on October 7, 2023 in Israel, in which around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 other gaza strips were dragged. According to the health authority controlled by the Hamas, more than 63,600 Palestinians have been killed in the coastal area since then. In the case of the number that is hardly verifiable, the authority does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.
