Court: Trump government may not set Harvard financing

A US Federal Court declared the deletion of research funds of around $ 2.2 billion for the renowned US University Harvard by the government of US President Donald Trump illegally. Federal judge Allison Burroughs in Boston decided on Wednesday that the government must no longer hire research financing for the renowned university.

The Trump government had deleted hundreds of scholarships for researchers from the university on the grounds that the university had not undertaken enough against the harassment of Jewish students on their campus. Harvard had then sued and argued that the government of retaliation and violated the right to freedom of expression.

The Trump government wants to force changes to US universities by awarding federal funds. Trump accuses this of being dominated by anti -Semitic and “radical left” ideologies. Burroughs said that the Republican President was right to combat anti -Semitism. Harvard had “wrongly hatered behavior” for too long. However, fighting anti -Semitism was not the real goal of the government. Rather, civil servants would have wanted to put pressure on the university to give in to their demands. This violated the right to freedom of expression in the first additional article of the US constitution. It prohibited the government of deleting or freezing further federal funds for Harvard.

The White House announced that it would make an appeal against the decision. A spokeswoman described Burroughs as an “activist judge appointed by Obama”. Harvard “has no constitutional right to the money of taxpayers,” said a statement. Harvard initially did not respond to inquiries for a statement.
