Federal Government Federal Commissioner Saving only a little money

The federal government has deleted 25 of its representatives – but this brings only low savings in the household. This achieves “an annual savings volume of at least 178,800 euros,” said Finance State Secretary Dennis Rohde when it comes to a question from the Greens chief housekeeper Sebastian Schäfer.

In its first meeting in May, the Federal Cabinet had decided to shorten the number of agents, authorized representatives and coordinators of the government by 25. The Union and SPD wanted to set a signal that they are serious about reducing bureaucracy.

Among other things, the marine officer, the representative for cycling and the special representative for international climate policy, were abolished.

However, some of the functions were carried out by civil servants who were already active for the respective ministry – which is why there were hardly any costs.

Grünen-Hauswer Schäfer emphasized that the “large-scale” consolidation in the representative in the end only brings only savings of 0.00004 percent of the household from 2025. “This is the reality with which the Union has to be faced if it has to deliver politics instead of just producing headings,” he told the German Press Agency (dpa).
