For three years, four Ukrainian soldiers hid in the Russian field, constantly in fear of being discovered and captured by the enemy. Now the men and their relatives are allowed to breathe a sigh of relief: they were brought back home in the course of a rescue operation by the Ukrainian Navy.

“Our soldiers are safe and finally with their families,” said Oleksii Nejischpapa, commander of the Ukrainian Navy. According to the Ukrainian armed forces, the four soldiers were wounded in the fight and had to keep themselves hidden in an area that is occupied by the Russians. It was a member of the Navy, two soldiers of the National Guard and a paramedic.

The four Ukrainians received help from “sympathetic doctors”, as it is said. They provided them medically and hid them in their hospital, where they stayed until their evacuation. The area in which the hospital was not became public.

Rescue operation of a special unit of Ukraine

In Ukraine, marine chief Nejischpapa learned from an ombudsman for soldier’s rights from the fate of the comrades. The military then planned a multi -stage rescue operation of a special unit called “Engel”. “The operation was planned and divided into several stages, with the status of everyone involved and the high intensity of the fighting.

The Navy published a video on Facebook in which the rescued soldiers can see the rescued with their relatives. One of the liberated is the twin brother of a soldier who recently returned to Ukraine in the course of a prisoner exchange.

“This is a story of indomitable and faith,” said Oleksii Nejischpapa. “Our boys survived when it appeared hopeless.” The naval chief particularly praised the special unit “Engel”, which was established by himself after the Russian invasion to evacuate civilians and soldiers from an hostile area. So far, she has saved 88 people. “You are able to get our fighter from the heart of the enemy area. You have once again proven that nothing is impossible for Ukrainian soldiers,” said the commander.
