An alleged birthday letter Donald Trump to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein causes a stir. Now Democrats are putting the document in question. The Republicans are angry.
With new publications on the case of the infamous sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a politically sensitive topic for US President Donald Trump is picking up speed again. The Democrats posted a copy of an alleged birthday greeting on the net that Trump is said to have sent to Epstein more than 20 years ago. The Republican denies to be the author of the letter.
The Democrats in the committee of the House of Representatives responsible for supervisory issues made the birthday greeting on the platform X. It consists of enigmatic hints of a written dialogue between “Donald” and “Jeffrey”, which is surrounded by the marked silhouette of a woman’s body. Below are Trump’s name and a signature, although it is unclear whether the signature is real.
Spokeswoman Leavitt: Trump did not draw picture
The US newspaper “Wall Street Journal” also published a copy of the letter. Trump’s spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt reacted a little later and rejected the reporting of the sheet as “wrong”. “As I always said, it is very clear that President Trump did not draw this picture and did not sign,” she wrote to X. Leavitt announced further steps in court.
There was also criticism from the Republican Chairman of the Committee, James Comer: his democratic committee colleagues would deliberately selectively select documents and politicize information that the committee had just received from the administrators of the Epstein estate, it said in a message. “President Trump is not accused of misconduct, and the Democrats ignore the new information that the committee received today,” was his accusation. What exactly Comer means by that remained unclear.
With the notification, the committee led by Comer also pointed out that he published further documents on the Epstein Fall case this Monday (local time). Among them are the testament of Epstein, entries from its address books and a birthday book that his ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell had put together for the 50th birthday of Epstein.
Trump: “This is fake”
In mid -July, the “Wall Street Journal” reported exclusively about an alleged congratulatory letter from Trump, which is said to have been part of an album with many birthday wishes. The album is said to have been made for Epstein’s birthday in 2003. The newspaper referred to an insight into documents. The album was not published at the time as the original letter. On Monday (local time) the newspaper now published a photo of the alleged Trump letter.
Trump had already resisted the original representation of the newspaper with legal means. He filed a lawsuit against the sheet and media mogul of Rupert Murdoch, whose portfolio includes the newspaper, and demands compensation at the billions.
In the article at the time, the newspaper also cited a statement by Trump on her research: “This is fake. It is a false report of the” Wall Street Journal “”, the president is cited in it. And further: “I don’t draw pictures of women”. And: “It is not my language. It’s not my words.”
Epstein’s death still provides wild speculation to this day
The financier Epstein, well -networked in influential circles, had systematically abused minors for many years. After his arrest, he died in his prison cell in 2019 at the age of 66. In the autopsy report, suicide was mentioned as the cause of death. In parts of the US company, Epstein’s death caused wild speculation because he had the best contacts in the American high society. Prominent and billionaires went in and out of him-and Trump also spent time with Epstein, as several party videos show.
In the United States, a dispute over the processing of the Causa Epstein has been smoldering for months. The focus is on how close the relationship between him and Trump was.
In the ranks of the Republicans and the glowing Trump supporters, voices have become voices in the past few months, which require the disclosure of all documents to the case. Trump is under pressure because he had vehemently spoken out in the election campaign for disclosure of the files.
