Netanyahu calls for Katar’s designation of Hamas leaders

After the apparently failed attack on the Hamas tips in Qatar, Netanyahu increases the pressure. Doha has to show it, otherwise Israel will become active again.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on Qatar to designate leaders of the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas. With the attack on the Hamas leadership tip on Tuesday, Israel had acted against the planners of the massacre on October 7, 2023, said Netanyahu, according to his office. “And we did this in Qatar, which delivers a safe harbor, grants terrorists who finance Hamas, gives terrorist leaders luxurious villas,” said the head of government.

“I say Qatar and all the countries that terrorists grant shelter, either you identify them or take them to account. Because if you don’t do it, we will do it,” Netanyahu warned.

Israel’s Air Force tried to attack Hamas’ leadership in the catarian capital Doha on Tuesday. One goal was reportedly Chalil Al-Haja, the highest Hamas leader abroad, who also leads the Hamas delegation for an ceasefire during the indirect negotiations with Israel. According to Hamas, however, the attack failed that no member of the delegation was killed. But six people were killed, including Al-Haja’s son and his office manager. The attack was convicted internationally. Israeli media also reported on Wednesday that the goal of the attack was not increasingly assumed.
