Russian drones in Polish air space are concerned with NATO. It evaluates the incident as a targeted provocation from Moscow. Cards help to classify the location.
At least 19 Russian drones had entered the airspace of the EU and NATO country Poland on Wednesday night, some of them were intercepted by Polish and Dutch fighter jets (all current developments here in star-Newsblog). According to reports, the aircraft came from the direction of Ukraine and Belarus, some of them are said to have reached Polish airspace via Lithuania and have entered hundreds of kilometers. They were spotted especially in the east of the country, but also in the center and even not far from Gdansk near the Baltic Sea.

Also explosive: How, after preliminary Polish investigations, five drones on direct trajectory are said to have been a non-specific NATO base. Poland is located on the NATO-East flank and shares a border with the Russian province of Kaliningrad and the Belarus allied with Russia (see map below). NATO soldiers are stationed in the north, among other things, near the so-called Suwalki gap in Orzysz and Elbląg. There is also a US rocket shot station in Redzikowo. Poland evaluated and condemned the incident as a targeted provocation from the Kremlin.

Drones flew shortly before the common maneuvers of Russia and Belarus
Between Kaliningrad and Belarus, Poland’s border is located to Lithuania, the so-called Suwalki gap. The 65 -kilometer -wide country strip is considered a potential weak point. It is feared that Russia and its ally Belarus will occupy it in the event of the expansion of the Ukraine War and thus cut the supplies over the country to the Baltic States.
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that Russia and Belarus want to practice this line -up in the upcoming Military Manöver Sapad 2025 (West 2025). The military exercise will take place from Friday to next Tuesday. During this time, Poland announced the closure to the border to Belarus and limits air traffic on its eastern border
