Immunity withdrawn-Raid with AfD politician Krah

After the immunity of Maximilian Krah has been lifted, offices and apartments are searched. The investigation revolves around possible bribery and money laundering.
The Bundestag has lifted the immunity of the AfD politician Maximilian Krah and approved searches and confiscations arranged in court. The plenum had approved a corresponding application.
Afterwards, the suspect’s office in the German Bundestag in Berlin as well as living and business premises in Dresden and Limbach-Oberfrohna (Zwickau district) as well as- with the support of Eurojust and the Belgian Justice- were searched in Brussels, as the General Prosecutor’s Office Dresden and the State Criminal Police Office Saxony (LKA) announced. The searches were ordered by the Dresden Higher Regional Court. According to information from parliamentary group circles, Krah was not in the Bundestag at the time of searching his office. However, another AfD MP was present.
The investigators had ensured various evidence, especially documents and electronic devices, the LKA said. You would now be evaluated. “The presumption of innocence continues to apply.” Further information would not be granted due to the ongoing investigation.
The Dresden General Prosecutor’s Office had opened an investigation in May for bribery and money laundering in connection with Chinese payments against the AfD politician Krah. According to the information, the allegations of the crime refer to his earlier mandate activity as a member of the MEP. The authority now wants to determine whether “sufficient occasion exists to collect an indictment or the procedure should be hired.” Krah had rejected the allegations, but is currently not to be achieved for a statement.
The co-chairman of the AfD parliamentary group, Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla, wrote in a joint message: “The abolition of immunity and in particular the search of Mr. Krah’s office and private rooms are a serious process.” The AfD faction therefore “expected the investigation as well as the publication of the results”.
Long -standing employee of Krahs for spy allegations for China in court
A former and long -time employee of Krahs is currently on trial for accusation of agent activity for a Chinese secret service in Dresden. The general prosecutor accuses the accused of collecting information as an assistant in Krah’s then MPs in the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024 and partially passed on to Chinese bodies.
In the previous week, Krah had stated in the process of not knowing anything about the agent activity or membership of his former employee in China’s Communist Party. If a question of possible payments by the accused to him, Krah, who previously worked as a lawyer, made use of his right to refuse to testify.
The matter should also be discussed at the next telephone conference of the Federal Executive Board of the AfD, it was said from party circles. Within the AfD there were partly reservations against Krah and his candidacy for the Bundestag. He won a direct mandate in the Chemnitz Umland constituency – Erzgebirge district II.
