Experts: Russians sneak through tunnels to Kupjansk

The fights for the city of Kupjansk in the northeast of Ukraine have been running for months. Russian troops have now succeeded with a trick to continue in the area.

According to military observers, the fights for the Frontstadt Kupjansk in the east of the Ukrainian region of Charkiw are increasing. Russian soldiers have managed to penetrate the city in small groups through an underground tube, report the experts from the military blog “Deepstate”. It is not the first time that Moscow uses this tactic for its advances.

Kupjansk is a strategically important traffic junction located on the Oskil river. The river itself serves as a barrier against the penetration of Russian troops. However, the Russian military has already managed to overcome it in some places. With the help of the tube, which has an input on the east bank of the river, the military is now strengthening its bridgehead on the west bank.

Kyiv: Everything under control

The general staff in Kyiv denied a direct danger to the city after the tunnel became known. The situation was under control, the general staff said on Facebook. The tube used by the Russians does not lead directly to the city. In Kupjansk there are a total of four underground pipelines that three have been damaged or filled with water, the outcome of the fourth is under the control of the Ukrainian forces.

Previously, “Deepstate” had reported that the Russians used the four -day path through the tube to reach the other bank without major losses. The outcome was not directly in the city, had also written the portal. However, there are already individual Russian positions that are used for the start of drones.

At the beginning of the year, Russian troops have already recaptured the small town of Sudscha in the West Russian area of Kursk with this tactics. Previously, the Ukrainians had carried the war on the attacker’s territory for the first time in a surprising advance last summer and kept a larger area under their control for months.
