The US ambassador at the United NationN has assured that America is firmly alongside its NATO allies. “Be assured that we will defend every centimeter of the NATO territory”said Dorothy Shea on Friday evening (local time) in New York at a special meeting of the UN Security Council to violate Polish airspace by Russian drones. This “incident” is not helpful for the recent efforts in the United States to convey an end to the war.
With this, Shea said much more clearly than US President Donald Trumpwhich had commented on the Russian drone flights, unlike most NATO countries. Poland expressly contradicted Trump’s assessment, according to which the massive penetration of Russian drones into Polish airspace may have been based on an error.
Shea reprimanded that Russia had intensified his bombing on Ukraine in Alaska since the summit between Trump and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin in mid -August. “These actions, now also by the violation of the airspace of a US ally-whether on purpose or not-show enormous disregard for the serious efforts of the United States to end this conflict.”
She warned Moscow for a change of course: Russia is urgently asked to strive for an immediate end of hostility through direct negotiations with Ukraine. “Russia has to prove its seriousness by immediately taking concrete steps towards peace.”
